(fam) to plead with smb. for smb. a interveni / a face un demers pe lângă cineva pentru cineva;

(jur.) to plead guilty a-şi mărturisi/ a-şi recunoaşte vina;

to plead not guilty a nu-şi recunoaşte vina, a nega orice vină.

(fam.) to plead smb.’s cause with smb. a interveni pe lângă cineva pentru cineva, a pleda cauza cuiva în faţa cuiva.

2. (fam.) a invoca, a pretinde (o scuză); a pretexta;

to plead ignorance a se pretinde ignorant, a invoca ignoranţa drept scuză;

to plead the inexperience of youth a se scuza pentru lipsă de experienţă datorită tinereţii, a motiva lipsa de experienţă prin tinereţe;

to plead fatigue a pretexta că e obosit, a invoca oboseala drept scuză.
